All New Companion Pets in WoW Forever and How to Get Them

Every newly documented WoW Forever companion pet, where to get it, and which datamined discoveries remain unconfirmed.

WoW Forever is adding new companion pets throughout Azeroth, including hidden discoveries, rare drops, new vendor pets, and rewards from the Legacy System.

We've identified 20 new companions with documented or reported acquisition sources so far. Some are as simple as buying another pet from a familiar vendor. Others involve rare spawns, reputation, quests, or the Stranglethorn Fishing Extravaganza.

This article covers where to find them, what you need to collect them, and which additional pets are still awaiting discovery.

Vendor pets

Several familiar pet vendors have expanded their inventories for Forever. These are among the easiest new additions to collect.

CompanionWhere to get it
Jungle BoaXan'tish, Orgrimmar
Prairie Wolf PupMayhoa Skyhoof, Orgrimmar. Limited stock reported
Plagued CockroachJeremiah Payson, Undercity
Undercity CockroachJeremiah Payson, Undercity
Brown Ground SquirrelHalpa, Thunder Bluff
Red Ground SquirrelHalpa, Thunder Bluff
Brown RabbitYarlyn Amberstill, Dun Morogh
Arctic HareYarlyn Amberstill, Dun Morogh
Eagle OwlShylenai, Darnassus

The Undercity Cockroach and Plagued Cockroach are separate collectibles from the original Classic Cockroach. Likewise, the new squirrels and rabbits are additions to the existing vendor selections, rather than replacements for the original pets.

If you're starting a collection, these vendor additions are an excellent place to begin. You can pick up several while visiting your faction's cities without committing to a longer farm.

Hidden discoveries and quests

CompanionHow to get it
Musical GustjumperUse /sing on the frogs above the waterfall on Zephras Isle, around 51.5, 72.3
Excitable SlimeBuy Nutritious Slime Sludge from Boyle in Undercity, then use /dance on an Excitable Slime to unlock WRIGGLE.
Weevil K. NeevilReported reward from My Little Friends in Swamp of Sorrows. Quest availability and completion still require beta verification

Musical Gustjumper and Excitable Slime are two of the more entertaining discoveries from the beta. Both reward players for experimenting with emotes rather than simply visiting another vendor.

Weevil K. Neevil is associated with the insect-collecting quest My Little Friends, involving an Arbor Tarantula, Hay Weevil, and Flesh Picker. The quest is present in the Forever database, although beta reports about its availability and completion are inconsistent. We'll update its acquisition information once the method is reliably confirmed.

New rare-drop companions

CompanionWhere to farm
Baby CrocoliskSewer Beast, Stormwind Canals
Condor HatchlingLord Condar, Loch Modan. Drops as a Shaking Egg
Tallstrider HatchlingStrider Clutchmother, Darkshore

These three are particularly interesting because Blizzard has added companion drops to rare creatures that already existed in the original world.

Sewer Beast, Lord Condar, and Strider Clutchmother now have something new for collectors to chase. Their rare-spawn behavior may prove as challenging as the actual drops, especially when players begin hunting the same creatures at launch.

Reliable drop percentages have not yet been established for all three, so we are not assigning rates based on limited beta observations.

Reputation, Legacy, fishing, and special rewards

CompanionHow to get it
Spectral Bear CubEarn 25 total Legacy Points and claim the reward from Innkeeper Wiley in Ratchet
Shadowgale SquirrelReach Revered with the Nightclaw Druids and purchase it from Vayn Moongaze on Zephras Isle
MinimuleEarn 1,500 Merchant's Favor and purchase the Packmule Treat from your faction's Supply Officer
Bitter BaitlingFinish among the first 50 Stranglethorn Fishing Extravaganza winners and exchange an Extravagant Extravaganza Coin with Jang
PachimariIncluded with the Skyborne Epic Pack or Warcraft Forever Collection

These companions give collectors some longer-term targets. The Nightclaw Druids' Shadowgale Squirrel requires Revered reputation, while Minimule is tied to the new Merchant's Favor system. The Spectral Bear Cub comes from accumulating Legacy Points, giving collectors another reward to work toward while playing normally.

Fishing also gets a worthwhile addition. Forever expands the Stranglethorn Fishing Extravaganza to 50 winners, each earning an Extravagant Extravaganza Coin that can be exchanged for prizes including Bitter Baitling.

Pachimari is different from the others. It is a promotional companion included with specific Forever purchase packages, rather than something discovered or earned through gameplay.

Three original Collector's Edition pets return

Forever also brings back the original 2004 World of Warcraft Collector's Edition companions:

All three are included alongside Pachimari with the Skyborne Epic Pack and Warcraft Forever Collection.

These are returning companions rather than entirely new pets, which is why we're keeping them separate from the new additions above.

Datamined companion pets still awaiting discovery

The Forever beta contains more companion entries than players have confirmed how to obtain.

Some of the names currently worth watching include Spawn of Grubthor, Minfernal, Snowy Wolf Pup, Galestrider Chick, Wild Chicken, Lunar Lantern, and Festival Lantern.

Spawn of Grubthor is particularly interesting. The name suggests a connection to Grubthor, the rare elite in Silithus, although no acquisition method has been confirmed.

Other entries have even fewer clues. A companion appearing in the game files does not necessarily mean players can obtain it. Some may be unfinished, intended for future content, or have acquisition methods that are still hidden.

We'll add these to the confirmed collection as players discover reliable sources.

More companion pets are coming

With Forever introducing a dedicated collection system and already adding pets to old vendors, rare creatures, new zones, quests, and other activities, there is good reason to expect the companion roster to continue growing.

We have already seen how a familiar NPC or overlooked creature can become relevant again simply by receiving a new companion reward. There are plenty of places in Azeroth where Blizzard could continue doing that, and the unresolved beta entries give collectors more mysteries to investigate.

This article will grow as new pets are discovered and their sources are confirmed.
