WoW Forever companion pet

Hyacinth Macaw

Hyacinth Macaw is one of Vanilla Classic's rarest collectible companions. The cage can drop from Bloodsail enemies throughout Stranglethorn Vale at an extremely low rate, making it a long-term farm or an expensive Auction House target.

How to get Hyacinth Macaw

Farm Bloodsail enemies in Stranglethorn Vale for the Parrot Cage (Hyacinth Macaw). Wowhead's Classic companion guide estimates the Vanilla-era drop rate at roughly 0.01-0.02%. The cage binds when used, so collectors can also buy or trade an unopened cage rather than farming it themselves.

Farm Bloodsail enemies in Stranglethorn Vale

In Vanilla Classic, Hyacinth Macaw comes from Bloodsail enemies rather than from every creature in Stranglethorn Vale. The broader zone-drop behavior was added years later and does not describe the Vanilla source.

Wowhead's Classic companion guide estimates a roughly 0.01-0.02 percent drop rate, which is why this pet is commonly treated as one of the hardest farmable companions in Classic.

Consider Bloodsail reputation before farming

Killing Bloodsail enemies lowers Bloodsail Buccaneers reputation. If you also intend to complete Bloodsail reputation goals, handle those first before settling into a long Hyacinth Macaw farm.

This is especially relevant because the pet's drop rate is low enough that a serious farm can involve a very large number of Bloodsail kills.

Buying the cage is a valid collection route

Parrot Cage (Hyacinth Macaw) binds when used rather than when looted. A lucky farmer can therefore sell or trade the unopened cage.

For collectors who value time over gold, checking the Auction House can be substantially more practical than targeting the drop directly.

The WoW Pet Journal says jungle trolls train these macaws to imitate cries for help and lure unsuspecting travelers into traps.
