How to get Crimson Whelpling
Farm Red Whelps, Crimson Whelps, and Flamesnorting Whelps in the Wetlands, around 59, 47, for the Tiny Crimson Whelpling. The Classic companion guide estimates the overall rarity at roughly 0.05% and specifically notes that Lost Whelps are reported not to drop the pet. The item binds when used, so the unopened whelpling can also be bought or traded.
Farm the red whelps in the Wetlands
The Classic guide places the main Crimson Whelpling farm around 59, 47 in the Wetlands. Red Whelps, Crimson Whelps, and Flamesnorting Whelps are the relevant targets.
Current Classic Era player reports on Wowhead continue to confirm drops from all three of those whelp types.
Do not rely on Lost Whelps for the pet
Lost Whelps share the same general area, but the Classic guide reports that they do not drop Tiny Crimson Whelpling.
Historical player comments note that clearing Lost Whelps can still help cycle respawns in the area, even though those kills are not themselves pet-drop attempts.
Auction House is the alternative to the grind
Tiny Crimson Whelpling binds when used, so a farmer can sell the unopened pet.
That makes the Auction House a legitimate collector route if the long Wetlands farm is less appealing than paying another player's asking price.
Hailing from the Wetlands, this young dragon is just learning how to hunt, breathe fire, and go on cute destructive rampages.
