Start with the new vendor pets
WoW Forever adds several companions to existing pet vendors, so collectors can return to familiar Classic locations and come away with new pets. Five of these eight companions are sold directly by traditional city or starter-zone vendors.
Vendor prices for the new variants are not reliably established in the public source guide. Rather than guess, this field guide focuses on confirmed vendors and items.
Thunder Bluff: two ground squirrels from Halpa
In Thunder Bluff, head to the High Rise near the bridge toward Hunter Rise and find Halpa, the established prairie dog vendor. His Forever selection includes Brown Ground Squirrel Whistle and Red Ground Squirrel Whistle. Each item teaches a different collectible companion.
Both squirrels are separate from the original Brown Prairie Dog. Check the item names before making the purchase.
Undercity: two new cockroaches from Jeremiah Payson
Visit Jeremiah Payson, the cockroach vendor in Undercity's Trade Quarter. WoW Forever adds the Plagued Cockroach and Undercity Cockroach to his pet inventory.
There is an important naming distinction: the original Vanilla item is now represented as Cockroach in Forever, while Undercity Cockroach is also the name of a separate new companion. These are not simply two labels for one pet.
Dun Morogh: Brown Rabbit from Yarlyn Amberstill
Travel to Amberstill Ranch in Dun Morogh and locate Yarlyn Amberstill, the roaming rabbit vendor. Her new Rabbit Crate (Brown) grants the Brown Rabbit companion.
Yarlyn also sells the classic Snowshoe Rabbit. The Forever guide additionally lists an Arctic rabbit variant. Check the exact crate name before purchasing.
Zephras Isle: Shadowgale Squirrel at Revered
The Shadowgale Squirrel requires a different approach. Reach Revered reputation with the Nightclaw Druids, then buy the pet from Vayn Moongaze, their quartermaster on Zephras Isle.
Player reports place Vayn near the Nightclaw Druids' den in Shadowgale Forest. The official Wowhead item entry confirms the Revered requirement, so reaching Honored is not enough. No verified vendor price is listed here.
Darkshore: Tallstrider Hatchling from a rare
For a hunting target instead of a vendor purchase, find the Strider Clutchmother in southern Darkshore. She drops the new Tallstrider Hatchling companion in WoW Forever.
The source is documented, while the drop percentage remains uncertain. Do not assume the hatchling is a guaranteed reward from each kill.
Loch Modan: Condor Hatchling from the Shaking Egg
Lord Condar, a rare carrion bird in southern Loch Modan, now drops the Shaking Egg in WoW Forever. Use the egg to learn the Condor Hatchling companion.
The Shaking Egg binds when picked up. Wowhead records a drop from Lord Condar, though a reliable drop percentage is not yet established for planning a farm.
Keep the beta caveat in mind
These acquisition paths are documented in WoW Forever beta sources as of October 10, 2026. Blizzard can adjust item prices, vendor inventory, drop behavior, or reputation requirements before release.
Forever Companions keeps acquisition instructions on dedicated pet pages so you can revisit individual companions as more reports arrive.
